One Mom's Story: Misty and Baby Dominic

One Mom's Story: Misty and Baby Dominic

Baby Dominic is Misty's fifth child--obviously, the woman has been through the newborn thing before. But when Dominic was born, it was much more difficult. He was giving his parents a hard time right from the start. Misty states, "Life before Colic Calm was exhausting for all of us. From the time our little one had his first feeding until we found Colic Calm he was screaming." Misty goes on to say that Dominic was normally, ". . . very tense, his fingers and toes were clenched. If I rubbed his back he would start squirming and screaming. His little head would arch back and his arms and legs would start flailing." Knowing that constant screaming and and the rigidness of his body were not normal, at three weeks of age, Misty took Dominic in to the pediatrician's and he was diagnosed with Sandifer Syndrome. Sandifer Syndrome is described as

, ". . . a rare medical condition that most often occurs in infancy or late childhood, with a peak prevalence around 1 1/2 to 3 years of age. In neurologically impaired children, however, the onset may occur as late as adolescence. This syndrome is characterized by gastrointestinal symptoms, such as gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD) or hernias, and certain neurological signs. The neurological features of Sandifer syndrome usually involve spasmodic torticollis, or chronic involuntary movements of the neck in right, left, up or down directions, and dystonia, in which sustained muscle contractions cause twisting and writhing movements and abnormal postures. Although Sandifer syndrome does not have a neurological basis, it is often misdiagnosed as epileptic seizures due to these neurological signs. The spasms associated with this syndrome may last several minutes and can occur frequently throughout the day, although they are often associated with feeding." Since Sandifer Syndrome usually involves GERD, Dominic was put on Prevacid, which gave him mild relief. But the screaming continued. Misty states, "Every day for 5 weeks we wondered if it was ever going to end." Misty goes on to describe life like this: "He [Dominic] would only sleep 10-15 minutes at a time. He is also lactose intolerant. [With the Prevacid] we could get him to sleep an hour at a time. Even then we had to be holding him. My husband and I would take shifts, and he would still scream unless we were feeding him. One night while I was up with him, I was checking out some things about Sandifer Syndrome and one Mom had put a comment about the immense relief her daughter had received from Colic Calm. I went to the Colic Calm website. After a few days of Colic Calm coming up on different sites and blogs I did a more thorough check on the Colic Calm website. Checked out the ingredients and talked to my pediatrician. After talking to her we figured since it wasn't going to hurt him we should try it out. If it didn't help then, at least we had tried. We had tried nearly everything anyone had suggested and nothing helped. When we gave it [Colic Calm] to Dominic it only took about 5 minutes to notice the change. I gave him a 1/8 dose before feeding him. When he was done I was holding him up against my chest waiting for the screaming. It didn't happen. Instead his entire body relaxed. And when I noticed that his fists and toes were uncurled and that his body had totally relaxed against mine. . . I am not trying to be dramatic when I tell you that I thought my son was dead. Until that moment even in rest, his body never relaxed, but that day he slept a full 8 hours. (He hasn't slept that long since.) I waited every feeding for the ball to drop after that. Now, he cries (not screams) and he is even sleeping 5 hours for us at night. It is amazing to not have that nervousness anymore. And to be able to give him something that I know is not going to hurt him or his fragile little system down the road. I have to say I am grateful. More than words can express. I as a mom appreciate having a 100% natural, safe, and effective product that helps, not hurts my son." Lastly, Misty adds a side note about her experience with Colic Calm. "And a quick but another amazing Colic Calm story, my older four children had a really nasty stomach virus. They couldn't keep water, Gatorade, or anything else down. I gave them all Colic Calm. It was like they werent sick at all! They ate, drank, and kept all of it down with no cramps or the nausea that they had been feeling! AMAZING STUFF! Thank You Colic Calm from my entire family and thank you for letting me tell my story." Are you a Colic Calm user and would like to share your story?
