Treat Yourself to a Dreamy Bubble Bath with Items You Already Have at Home

Treat Yourself to a Dreamy Bubble Bath with Items You Already Have at Home

As a mom, carving out time for self-care is a challenge. But it is essential to allow you to replenish.

Because your free time is likely slim, one simple way to incorporate self-care is to piggyback with your daily hygienic routines. One of our favorites—swap out your rushed 8-minute shower before the kids wake up with an evening R&R session. Once the little ones are asleep, treat yourself to a relaxing bubble bath.

We’ve got a few tips for creating mom’s ultimate dream bath. And the best part is you can find all these items in your home. No need to add any fancy or expensive bath products to your Amazon cart!

1. The Obvious – Bubbles

Start with the obvious, bubbles! Despite having a rep for children's playtime, bubble baths offer plenty benefits like cleansing/detoxifying the skin, boosting your mood, promoting relaxation, and soothing sore muscles.

If you don’t have any bubble bath, you can create your own with just three ingredients: 1/4 cup warm distilled water, 1/2 cup liquid soap, and 1/4 cup coconut oil. Simply mix and pour!

2. Get Adventurous with Essential Oils

After the bubbles, add in 6-8 drops of essential oils. Stick with your favorite scent or get adventurous with 2-3 fragrances. Although diffusers are fabulous to inhale the aroma, placing oils in the bath offers a secondary benefit for your skin to absorb the properties safely.

3. It’s All About the Lighting

Create an aesthetic ambiance with scented candles, white Christmas lights, or battery-operated lighting options. If you’re using something electronic, just be sure to keep it far enough away from the water.

Candles, specifically, are great for mental and physical health. According to a study, fragrances found in candles “significantly modulate the activities of different brain waves and are responsible for various states of the brain.” Depending on the scent, candles have the ability to calm your mind, stimulate memory, promote restful sleep, and more.

4. Choose an Activity You Actually Enjoy

Don’t just read a book or drink a glass of wine because it’s now an Instagram staple. Choose an activity you actually enjoy (If it’s a book or a glass of wine, that’s still okay). Here are some options if you’re stuck:

• Listen to your favorite podcast or audiobook

• Have a cup of tea or decaf coffee

• Munch on a healthy snack like grapes, strawberries, or dark chocolate

• Pray, meditate, or practice intentional breaths

• Play soft background music

• Learn a new language with a free app

5. Cover Up

Towards the end of your bath, cover your face with a face mask, eye mask, sleep mask, cucumbers, or even warm washcloth. Whatever you have on hand! This will force you to shut your eyes and spend a moment having true quiet time. We know that’s rare, so enjoy it!

Okay, mama—go grab the bubbles, candles, activity of your choice, and face covering for a relaxing evening in the tub. Share this blog with a mommy friend, so she can enjoy some self-care too.
