Valentine’s Day Activities for Kids Under Two Years Old

Valentine’s Day Activities for Kids Under Two Years Old

Love is in the air.

With Valentine’s Day around the corner, this provides a wonderful opportunity to nurture your Mini Valentine with lessons about love, his or her heart, and caring for others. Even with an infant under two years old, there are still plenty of Valentine-themed activities to stimulate your child’s mental, emotional, motor, and sensory functions.

Cupid’s Sensory Bin

Incorporate sensory play this Valentine’s Day by making a Cupid’s Sensory Bin. There are lots of infant-friendly stimulating pieces you can put in your baby’s bin, but here are a few ideas: heart-shaped cookie cutters, large pink and white buttons, red and white puff balls, kinetic sand, colored rice, and Valentine sprinkles. For safety reasons, aim to use non-toxic items, remain with your child throughout the entire activity, and refrain from using tiny pieces if your little one is teething.

V-Day Coloring or Activity Pages

A simple activity for creative personalities! Download your free packet of Valentine's Day Activity Pages from our website. The packet comes with two V-Day Coloring Sheets, two Heart Shape Counting Sheets, and a Heart Matching Game.

Valentine’s Day Playlist

Appeal to your baby’s auditory senses with Valentine’s Day tunes and audio books. Craft your own playlist or use CalmCo’s Valentine’s Day Playlist for Baby on Spotify. Your baby will hear Cocomelon’s Valentine’s Day Song, You Are My Sunshine, the children’s book “Love You Forever,” and more.

Valentine’s Day Storytime

Instead of listening to audio books, you can also read Valentine’s Day classics. A few mom-favorite options include You’re My Little Cuddle Bug, Lots of Love Little One, I’ll Love You Til the Cows Come Home, and How Many Do I Love You? Reading to your baby exposes him/her to a variety of new words, showcases a love for learning through books at an early age, and is a calming activity since your child gets to listen to your voice.

A Bath Made with Love

Fill your baby’s bath with bubbles, red color drops, red bath-friendly art supplies, and lots of love. One of our favorite product sets for this activity is the Honeysticks Bath Color Drops and Bath Crayons. They’re made with 100% natural ingredients and non-toxic coloring. Just be sure to practice Bath Safety and adjust this activity to suit your little one’s age range if needed.

Sweet Treats for Your Little Sweetie

Something sweet for your little sweetheart! Using your favorite clean pancake or sugar cookie recipe, cut them into heart shapes with cookie cutters. Serve and indulge together!

Love Letters

All you need for this activity is red or pink paint, white paper or blank cards, a writing utensil, and your baby’s tiny little hands. Gently paint the palm side of your baby’s hands red or pink, imprint on the paper or card, then write a “love letter” to a friend or family member for a lovely keepsake. Browse card designs on Pinterest if you need a little inspiration!

We hope you and your little one(s) are able to enjoy a few of these Valentine-themed activities. Happy Valentine’s Day from the CalmCo family to yours!
